Canadian iGaming Growth Lifts PointsBet’s Latest Financial Results

2 min read
  • PointsBet’s group revenue slipped 1% in the first nine months of FY26 following the MIXI takeover.
  • Canadian iGaming delivered strong momentum, with net win rising 28%.
  • The operator is also preparing to enter Alberta when the market opens in July.

PointsBet reported total group revenue of US$133.4 million for the nine months ended March 31, compared with US$134.7 million in the same period a year earlier. While overall results were slightly lower, the company’s Canadian business provided an important source of growth.

The operator is now reporting under a revised fiscal timetable after MIXI Australia completed its takeover and secured a majority stake in the business in September 2025. That transaction followed a lengthy and highly public contest for control of PointsBet.

Group Revenue Edged Lower

For the period, gross profit fell 6% to US$66.9 million from US$71.4 million. PointsBet also shifted its financial year-end from June 30 to March 31, aligning reporting more closely with MIXI’s financial statements from October 1, 2025.

Cash active clients increased 1% year over year to 298,100. Performance was mixed by market: Australia declined 1%, while Canada rose 9%.

The company also reduced spending during the period. Marketing expenses declined from US$35.9 million to US$35.1 million, and operating expenses fell from US$34.7 million to US$32.3 million.

Canada Continues to Strengthen

Canada was the clear bright spot in the results, with online casino activity driving much of the improvement.

Canadian revenue increased 13% to US$24.7 million, while total net win climbed 14% to US$24.8 million. Within that, iGaming net win jumped 28% to US$16.9 million, helped notably by slots performance.

Sports betting in Canada was softer. Handle dropped 39% to US$115.5 million compared with the prior period. The company said that decline reflected reduced VIP play and higher gross win margins, which lowered reinvestment.

Company executives have previously indicated that the Canadian market is increasingly becoming casino-led, prompting further investment in casino product features, promotions, and technology.

Alberta Expansion Coming in July

PointsBet was among the operators licensed when Ontario’s regulated market launched on April 4, 2022. The company is now also positioned for expansion into Alberta.

According to the report, PointsBet appears on the Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis list of operators that have either obtained approval or are in the licensing process ahead of the province’s planned market launch on July 13.

Australia Delivered Weaker Results

Outside Canada, Australia posted a softer performance. Revenue there fell 4% to US$108.7 million from US$112.9 million. Sports betting gross win margin was unchanged at 13.3%, while net win declined 4% to US$119.6 million.

Overall, the latest results show that even as group revenue remained under pressure, Canadian iGaming is becoming a more meaningful contributor to PointsBet’s financial profile.
